SIHH Highlights- Day 3 Round-Up

Time never stops to overwhelm you at SIHH, literally! As the event glided into day 3 it continued to swipe people off their feet with the revolutionary finesse and innovative depth incarnated by the leading watch brands. Though day 3 was a step down the excitement quotient some brands churned it up with their new launches.

Talking of which, the timepieces that made it to the top charts included:

  • The Girard-Perregaux new Minute Repeater Tri-Axial Tourbillon

The most impressive piece by this posh exhibitor was the very light and tight Minute Repeated Tri-Axial Tourbillon. The watch is crafted against a box-type sapphire crystal on front and back enabling a see through of the striking gongs and wind calibre. It’s 48 mm in diameter and 22 mm thick but also unbelievably light weighted along with a grade 5 titanium chime maximizer.

  • Bulgari Octo Chronographe Ultranero

Bulgari bought to the racks a fantastic amalgamation of contemporary and traditional design with its Octo Chronographe Ultranero. Its gothic persona with shades of greys, blacks and hints of fluorescent green makes it look super bold and sturdy. The watch’s flip side consists of a remarkably finished calibre BVL 328 Velocissimo which races the gears of the watch to a superior look.

  • A. Lange & Sohne Triple Slpit

A split second chronograph is a complicated contruction and we have seen A. Lange & Sohne master it in its Double Split (2004), which allowed the watch to record time up to 30 minutes. And this year they have taken the split methodology by storm as they included split hours in its Triple Split timepiece, pushing the recordable time to an incredible 12 hours.  A world’s first, this piece is limited to only 100 pieces.

Roges Dubuis contributed to the SIHH a range of four new watches. One of them being the Excalibur Spider Automatic Skeleton which is incorporated with a quick release system and comes fitted with Formula One’s winning Pirelli tires. It offers choice between deep blue or pristine white. The second one is the Excalibur Aventador S, which uses the same C-SMC carbon as used in Lamborghini cars. It’s a stunning piece fitted with Poinçon de Genève certified, double sprung RD103SQ.

  • Panerai, L’Astronomo Luminor 1950 PAM920

Last but definitely not the least is Panerai’s astronomical compilation- the L’Astronomo, a second of their tribue to Galilio Galilee. This one got lot of applauds for all its nitty-gritty enhancements including the P.2005/GLS skeletonised calibre, polarised crystals that indicate the date and the Panerai’s patented tourbillon regulator. It’s the p brands first attempt for a moon phase, which is open to client’s personalization, who cans set the moon phase and sunrise/sunset as per their city.
