On October 17th, Vishawatch team attended the Gala opening night of Time Avenue Horlogerie (TAHH) at St. Regis, located in the heart of India’s Maximum City – Mumbai. Between the creative, cosmopolitan and casual culture of the city, it almost felt like we were in Brooklyn.
To add to the glitter and glamour, were ultra-luxe brands like Audemars, A.Lange & Sohnë, Roger Dubuis, Breguet, Blancpain, MB&F, MCT, Chopard, Bvlgari, De Grisogono, DeLaCour, Corum, Breitling, Omega, Baume & Mercier, Panerai, Parmigiani and Vertu showcasing their best timepieces in India’s first ever luxury watch exhibition.
Watch connoisseurs were in for a treat as they got an opportunity to witness stunning, exclusive and unique timepieces at this show. The specially curated event by Time Avenue had watches from over 18 iconic brands from Switzerland, France, Germany and others. In addition, guests also came across leading watch curators, brand representatives, historians, collectors and industry professionals at this event.
The exhibition, besides being the perfect rendezvous between watch makers and watch lovers, also proved to be a defining moment for everyone associated with the fine watches fraternity and expanded their horizons through a whole new level of interactions that unfolded. It is believed that the collective value of the pieces displayed at the show was worth more than Rs.100 crores.
The exhibition presented the work of some of the most iconic watch brands that have had such a decisive influence on the craft of watchmaking. One of watchmaking’s chief characteristics is its dual nature: it belongs as much to the world of science and technology as that of the visual beauty & decorative arts. The items presented were all of immense quality & craftsmanship representing both scientific objects and objects’ d’art.
On our visit to splendid TAHH, we found find an exhibition that dealt across themes, ranging from the simplest watches to the most complicated, and from purely scientific objects to exquisitely refined decorative watches.
For celebrities, it was a time calling of sorts when Mr. Uddhav Thackeray, Aditya Thackeray, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Aftab Shivdasani, Kumar Gaurav, Javed Akhtar, Mrs. Rajashree Birla and others were seen admiring luxury watches from their choicest brands.
Such an exhibition is an indication of India’s growing love towards the craftsmanship of watchmaking. Though still not a very big market, India is on a steady increase to become one of the important markets for some if the leading watch brands.
The credit for a dazzling evening goes to TAHH for showcasing the best Swiss timepieces in India and we hope to see many more such contributions in the Indian luxury watch space.
“TAHH has been a dream come true for me. The turnout of so many distinguished guests and their unanimous appreciation for the initiative has reinforced our resolve to make the next edition an even bigger one,” said Viraal Rajan, Director, Time Avenue.
Participating Brands were Audemars Piguet, A. Lange & Sohne, Roger Dubuis, Breguet, Blancpain, MB&F, MCT, Chopard, Bvlgari, De Grisogono, DeLaCour, Corum, Breitling, Omega, Baume & Mercier, Panerai, Parmigiani and Vertu. The timepieces gleamed and glittered as bright as the starry celebrities who made it to TAHH. Watch lovers in unison had only one word for all the luxury they witnessed at the Time Avenue Haute Horlogerie – ‘timeless’.
